Herman A. van den Berg successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis (abstract, full version) at the University of Toronto on January 18, 2008. He is currently teaching Informatie-economie (Information Economics) and Kennis en leren (Knowledge and Learning) at the Universiteit van Amsterdam Business School. He has also taught Finance courses at the undergraduate level and Information Policy at the graduate level. Dr. van den Berg's research is concerned with the economics of vertical firm boundary location using a knowledge-based view of the firm (KBV). Prior to commencing his Ph.D. program in the Faculty of Information, he served in successively more senior positions in an electrical utility, a financial institution, and an environmental services company. He has also held public office as a Trustee on two school boards. Dr. van den Berg is a graduate (with distinction, Dean's Honour List) of the Schulich School of Business' MBA program (York University). He also graduated (first in his class, with high distinction, and an Economics Option) from Wilfrid Laurier University's School of Business and Economics' Honours BBA program. Selected
